Electron impact excitations of S2 molecules
نویسنده
چکیده
Low-energy electron impact excitations of S2 molecules are studied using the fixedbond R-matrix method based on state-averaged complete active space SCF orbitals. Integral cross sections are calculated for elastic electron collision as well as impact excitation of the 7 lowest excited electronic states. Also, differential cross sections are obtained for elastic collision and excitation of the a∆g, b 1Σ+g and B 3Σ−u states. The integrated cross section of optically allowed excitation of the B3Σ−u state agrees reasonably well with the available theoretical result.

Electron-Impact Ionization Cross Sections of Atmospheric Molecules
A theoretical model for electron-impact total ionization cross sections, which has been found to be reliable for a wide range of molecules, is applied to molecules of interest to atmospheric science. The new theory, the binary-encounter-Bethe (BEB) model, combines the binaryencounter theory and the Bethe theory for electron-impact ionization, and uses simple theoretical data for the ground stat...
متن کاملLow-energy electron-impact excitation of the 3,1A2(n--> pi *) states of formaldehyde.
A three-state calculation of electron-impact excitation of formaldehyde to the a ' A 2 and A ' A 2 states is carried out using the Schwinger multichannel variational method. The integral and differential cross sections so obtained agree fairly well with theoretical results obtained using the complex Kohn method. Though agreement between the calculated integral cross section and the single avail...
متن کاملR-matrix calculation of integral and differential cross sections for low-energy electron impact excitations of N2 molecule
Low-energy electron impact excitations of N2 molecules are studied using the fixed-bond R-matrix method based on state-averaged complete active space SCF orbitals. Thirteen target electronic states of N2 are included in the model within a valence configuration interaction representations of the target states. Integrated as well as differential cross sections of the AΣu , B 3 Πg, W∆u, B 3 Σ − u ...
متن کاملMolecular transport junctions: current from electronic excitations in the leads.
Using a model comprising a two-level bridge connecting free electron reservoirs we show that coupling of a molecular bridge to electron-hole excitations in the leads can markedly effect the source-drain current through a molecular junction. In some cases, e.g., molecules that exhibit strong charge transfer transitions, the contribution from electron-hole excitations can exceed the Landauer elas...
متن کاملQuantum plasmonics: Symmetry-dependent plasmon-molecule coupling and quantized photoconductances
We investigate photoinduced electron transport through nanoparticle dimers connected by linear and ringlike molecules. The two model junctions exhibit similar absorption but distinct photoconductance. The linear-chain junction shows a constant conductance that is independent of photon energies. In contrast, the ring molecules show quantized conductance resonances at energies corresponding to th...
